Bentley named 'athlete of the year'

WHITSUNDAY Athletics Club's season finished on a high with a presentation night last weekend.

With the club's hard-working volunteers honoured to work at next year's Commonwealth Games - it was the athletes' time to shine.

Roary Bentley was named Athlete of the Year and Under-9 male champion after great success both at home and away competitions.

Gemma Giller won the coach's award, due to her never-give-up spirit, desire to always improve and readiness always to help out.

Nicholas Sainsbury won the U18 Men's title.

Gemma Giller took away the gong for the U12s after a great season.

U11 male and female awards went to Tristan Sainsbury and Matilda Denison respectively.

Riley Meale took home the U10 honour and Lily Sainsbury continued the family affair for the same age group.

U9 girls went to Claire Winterburn and Logan Meale took out the U8 boys' award.

Pre-season training will start in Term 1 next year.
