Clowning around at the CommBank

FRIDAY the 13th wasn't so scary, as Proserpine CommBank spread the laughter and donned clown kits to raise money for the Humour Foundation.

CommBank Proserpine raised $410 from customer donations and raffle ticket sales.

Branch manager Theresa Huttley-Haines, said they'd long supported the cause.

"We've been supporting the Clown Doctors for more than 19 years, it's a cause our team is very passionate about.

"We hope to help Clown Doctors achieve their goal of providing more clown rounds in hospitals across Australia.

"It's all about giving back to the local community, we had a great time, the local customers got involved, dressing as a clowns too.”

Clown Doctors is the core program run by the foundation, and provides medical clowns to sick children in hospital, treating them with a different kind of medicine, fun and laughter.

Clown Doctors is CommBank Foundation's National Community Grant recipient for 2017-2020.

The not-for-profit is receiving $1.2 million over three years through the generosity of more than 13,000 Commonwealth Bank employees who donate a portion of their salary.

Throughout the month of April, Commonwealth Bank branches across Australia raised funds in support of the Clown Doctors national day of fundraising, Smile Day, on April 13.

CEO of clown doctors Tony Warner said the foundation thanked Commbank customers.

"We're so grateful to CommBank and the Proserpine community for their support in raising much needed funds to help to uplift and empower sick children, their parents and hospital staff.”
