Two children with Ebola-like symptoms test negative

UPDATE: TWO Victorian children have tested negative for Ebola after undergoing tests this morning.

The pair, reportedly younger than 10 years old, were put in isolation after exhibiting Ebola-like symptoms after returning from an overseas trip to Africa.

 

EARLIER: TWO children are undergoing tests for Ebola at Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital.

In a statement, the hospital has said two children under 10 were being tested for "a range of infectious diseases including the Ebola virus".

Specialist medical staff are now caring for the two.

"The safety of staff and the community paramount," the hospital reported in a statement.

The results of the tests are expected to be released within hours.

Its understood the two children arrived into Australia from an international destination this morning.

It is unclear what country they were in before arriving here.
