Evidence prepared in teen abduction case

A BRIEF of evidence has been prepared in the case of a Sunshine Coast businessman accused of abducting and abusing children.

Richard Michael Espray, 42, is facing 21 charges including one of abduction and 10 of indecent treatment of a child and two of grooming a child with intent to procure a sex act.

Espray was granted bail, but had it revoked after it was revealed he contacted his alleged 13-year-old victim about 400 times via the teen's secret mobile phone.

It's also alleged the real estate agent met the girl several times while on bail.

Justice Peter Davis described Mr Espray as "manipulative" during his bail hearing and determined him to be at an unacceptable risk of "re-offending" if he was released.

The court heard all of Espray's charges have been sent up to the District Court bar one count of child abduction which was the subject of a committal mention in Maroochydore Magistrates Court yesterday morning.

A brief of evidence has been prepared by prosecutions was provided to Espray's defence lawyers last week.

He will not be required to appear the next mention of his case on January 19.

Espray is expected to remain in custody until then.
