A FEMALE jockey with a suspected fractured skull is in a stable condition after she fell off her horse at Mackay Turf Club on Thursday.

Chelsea Jokic, 21, has a suspected fractured skull after a fall in a jump out at the race meeting.

Queensland Racing Integrity Commissioner Ross Barnett said Jokic was riding an unraced horse in an attempt to get a barrier certificate.

"Stewards report that the horse appeared to blunder when released from the barrier and the jockey fell,” he said.

"Ms Jokic was immediately attended to by an onsite ambulance and take to hospital.

"QRIC stewards will hold an inquiry into the reasons for the incident when the jockey is well enough to attend.”

Jokic had won 45 races this season (9%), had finished second 54 times (11%) and third 56 times (12%).
