LOGAN isn't just another tireless instalment in the X-Men saga.
Unlike many comic-book movies which have come and gone, Logan looks, sounds and feels like something special.
And it doesn't hold back when it comes to dramatic scenes of death and ugly graphic violence.
In his 10th appearance, Hugh Jackman once again takes up his trademark role as Wolverine, going by the namesake of the movie 'Logan'.
From the opening scene, viewers will be under no illusions as to the extent of the roller coaster ride ahead.
One does not need to watch for long to get a taste of Logan's ruthless style - destroying enemies who are too stupid to realise what they are up against.
Logan encounters a long list of villains who serve no purpose other than to wind him up and allow him to slice, dice and spear them like kebabs.
This intertwined with a long list of bodies hitting the floor is a storyline revolving around corporate violence gone mad in an almost lawless future.
The narrative largely involves a series of run and hide scenarios driven by corporate entities out for blood.
From beginning to end, the movie is all about the concept of the "endless fight” and while it always comes at a deadly cost, that is what entertainment is all about.
"Logan” is an excellent example of where comic-book style movies can emerge as fresh, thrilling and down to earth.
It clearly makes its mark as it turns the franchise furniture on its head, and features powerful special effects scenes in which the world shudders to a near standstill.
