Man, 27, found dead on footpath in Queensland

CAIRNS detectives are appealing for public help after a 27-year-old man was found dead on the footpath in Parramatta Park.

Police were called to the intersection of Spence and Taylor streets, about 3.25am after the man was found dead.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area on Wednesday night and noticed anything suspicious to contact them.

A crime scene has been cordoned off with police blocking the inbound lanes of Spence Street between the intersection of Draper Street and Taylor Street.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and take alternative routes into the city via Portsmith or Scott Street.

It is expected that the road closure will be in place till mid to late morning. 

Investigations are continuing.
