Police guard scene overnight for fire investigators

FIRE investigators will today begin work to determine what caused a unit fire in Bowen overnight.

Emergency services were called to Leichhardt St about 11.24pm on Sunday night where a single-storey unit, between Gordon St and Powell St, had caught fire.

It is understood the blaze began in the bedroom.

Two fire crews were able to reach the scene in minutes, with the local fire station just around the corner.

Searches were conducted and the property was ventilated.

No one was injured.

Firefighters left the scene at 1.40am.

Queensland Police officers guarded the scene overnight for fire investigators.
