Drunk teen threw punch at guard to protect her boyfriend
WHEN Laycee Louise Punter saw her boyfriend in a fight with another man, the 18-year-old didn't think twice before she stepped in to save him.
The teen got involved in the melee and punched her boyfriend's opponent in the face.
Unfortunately, in her haste, she failed to notice the man she just attacked was a security guard.
At Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday, the 18-year-old pleaded guilty to one charge of assault.
Punter and her boyfriend had been out celebrating New Year's Eve and drinking prior to the fight.
Defence lawyer Dylan Hans said the offence took place at about 3am at McDonald's in Ipswich.
Mr Hans said his client had been drunk when she threw the punch and described the incident as "a stupid mistake".
He said Punter had no prior criminal history.
She was fined $200, with no convictions recorded.
