Thunderstorm warning for Darling Downs, south-east

UPDATE: Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones across the Darling Downs over the next several hours.

Locations which may be affected include Warwick, Toowoomba, Dalby, Ipswich, Stanthorpe, Rolleston, Springsure, Goondiwindi and Carnarvon National Park. 

An earlier warning specific for Toowoomba and parts of the Lockyer Valley has been cancelled.

EARLIER: A thunderstorm could hit Toowoomba within the next hour, warns the Bureau of Meteorology.

About 2.55pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Cambooya.

These thunderstorms are moving north-east.

They are forecast to affect areas south of Toowoomba by 3.25pm and Toowoomba and Helidon by 3.55pm.

Damaging winds and large hailstones are likely.

The next warning is due at 4pm.
